Presentation Summit 2022 Sweepstakes: Conversation with Rick Altman

Presentation Summit 2022: Conversation with Rick Altman

Rick Altman has been hired by hundreds of companies, listened to by tens of thousands of professionals, and read by millions of people, all of whom seek better results with their presentation content and delivery. He covers the whole of the industry, from message crafting, through presentation design, slide creation, software technique, and delivery. He is the host of the Presentation Summit, now in its 20th season as the most prominent learning event for the presentation community.

In this conversation, Rick talks about the sweepstakes announced for the upcoming Presentation Summit 2022, being held both virtually and on location in San Diego, CA, United States this year from October 9 to 12, 2022. is the official media partner for the Presentation Summit.

Geetesh: Rick, please tell us more about your biggest ever sweepstakes for the Presentation Summit 2022?

Rick: We have never awarded so much value at one time before – three prizes all worth over $1,000. And normally, you enter sweepstakes, and then you just wait. With this one, the first 100 people who register for each of the two conference experiences (in-person and virtual) automatically win something. And good somethings, too: a copy of Nolan Haims’ Better Deck Deck for in-person registrations and Mike Parkinson’s Build-a-Graphic for virtual registrations.

We will award the three prizes on June 6, hopefully in a live-streamed event. The first winner gets a choice of any one of the three prizes, the second winner then gets to choose between the remaining two, and so on.

And one of the prizes continues to grow. Our mega gift basket has about eight things in it and our partners continue to add to it.

Your odds of winning one of the three prizes will be no worse than 3 out of 200 and it might be better than that.

Geetesh: How does one take part in this sweepstakes — what does one need to do?

Rick: You just need to register for the conference before June 3. Full details are here.

Geetesh: Can you tell us more about your upcoming 20th Presentation Summit 2022 conference, being held in San Diego, CA, and virtually online at the same time?

Rick: We probably have the best lineup of keynote speakers in our history. Cliff Atkinson spoke at our first conference, back in 2003, and is the literal author of the concept of going Beyond Bullet Points – that’s the title of his iconic book. Jasmine Sadler is a rocket scientist and ballerina; Jeff Pearlman’s best-selling book Showtime has become a huge (and controversial) HBO hit; and Dierdre Wolownick climbed El Capitan in Yosemite at the age of 70, and that was after raising her son Alex Honnold, who went on to make history for climbing that rock without any safety equipment. So she knows a bit about how to manage stress during a performance!

We think we did pretty good with cross-audience engagement last year, but we think we can do better. Each room will have a roaming camera, in addition to fixed-position ones, and that will make a big difference. We also are looking into providing audio connectivity, so virtual attendees can ask questions with their voices, not just their typing fingers.

San Diego has always been a wonderful destination for us, with so much to do and see. Our host property is 15 minutes from the airport, 10 minutes from downtown, five minutes from fantastic shopping, and 20 minutes from glorious beaches.

As for 20th-anniversary celebrations, I’m pretty sure there will also be some roasts and toasts taking place. Just a suspicion…
