Geetesh: Can you tell us more about the concept of PowerPoint add-ins, and why do you believe that they are useful?
Andreja: PowerPoint add-ins are mini-programs that expand PowerPoint’s built-in capabilities, allowing you to create slides more efficiently, collaborate seamlessly, and customize functionality to suit your specific needs.
As a concept, add-ins enable us to extend PowerPoint beyond what Microsoft designed, tailoring it to enhance productivity and meet unique business requirements.
Add-ins really bring significant value, for example:
- Enhanced Productivity: Automate repetitive tasks, allowing users to focus on content rather than manual actions.
- Standardization: Companies can utilize custom add-ins that enforce brand standards, ensuring their presentations are visually and structurally consistent across all departments.
- External data integration: By pulling in data from external sources (e.g. sales or financial dashboards), add-ins make it easy to keep slides updated without manual input.
- Improve design capabilities: Add-ins that offer creation of custom graphics, icons, and templates enable more visually compelling presentations.
In short, add-ins give PowerPoint an extra edge, making it a more powerful tool for today’s needs.
Geetesh: What are some of your favorite PowerPoint add-ins?
Andreja: Here are a few of my favorite PowerPoint add-ins, I use them regularly and wholeheartedly recommend:
- think-cell is my go-to for creating data-driven visuals. Its ease of use and ability to build complex charts in minutes have saved me so much time. Plus, the customization options for data labels and styling let me create exactly what I need without fuss. The addition of AI assistant Brian
has only made it smarter and more versatile. - QR4Office: I use this whenever I need to make a slide interactive or share digital content easily. It’s so simple to generate QR codes that link to websites, files, or contact info directly in PowerPoint. The fact that you can customize the codes to match your branding is a nice touch that makes presentations look even more polished.
- Office Timeline: With the number of projects I track, having a tool like this is essential. It helps me create Gantt charts and timelines quickly, and its drag-and-drop feature is incredibly intuitive. Instead of spending hours making project plans, I can focus on managing them.
