Geetesh: You’re delivering the Micro-Learning and Super-Simple Slide Designs sessions at this year’s Presentation Summit. What according to you will be the takeaways for the audiences from these sessions?

Mike: Yes, I’m so excited!

For my Micro-learning session, I will teach participants how to use PowerPoint to turn objectives into learning modules that are easy to understand, remember, and adopt. Microlearning is one of the newest and fastest ways to upskill because it gives learners bite-sized, just-in-time training modules when they need it the most. Also, trainers can more quickly, effectively, and easily design microlearning courses over standard training modules.

My Super Simple Slide Design workshop was such a hit last year that I created a sequel. In Super Simple Slide Design 2, I will showcase new designs along with new tips, tricks, and tools. Creating fresh, modern slide designs is difficult. I want to help everyone at all levels of proficiency make the best slides in very little time. All participants will be inspired and learn (step-by-step) how to make professional slides quickly and easily.

Geetesh: You’re also part of the Can PowerPoint Save Your Life joint session. What is the format of this session, and tell us about your role?

Mike: If you want to learn how to go from an idea to a finished, compelling presentation, then this is the right session for you. We will walk through a real-world example of how Bill Munroe, Rick Altman, Lori Chollar, Richard Goring, and I created a PowerPoint deck that can literally save lives. I will discuss how to define your objectives, audience, and takeaways in addition to outlining and storyboarding. I also share a helpful cheat sheet to simplify the process.

In this enlightening session, we pull back the curtain on all phases of presentation development and show exactly how they work together to deliver a powerful presentation. We also demonstrate how to collaborate with a team when needed.

Geetesh: You return to a hybrid event this year after last year’s Presentation Summit was an entirely virtual event. How excited are you to be returning to a hybrid event, and how will you balance between the in-person and virtual attendees?

Mike: This will be my first on-site conference in over a year! I’m looking forward to finally seeing my friends and fellow presenters in person. I always savor the creative energy from being in the same room with other industry pros and learning from them.

As a presenter and facilitator, I will weave in best practices to engage both those at home and in-person. All content, exercises, and handouts are tailored to making this one of the best hybrid events anyone has ever attended. I solicit questions throughout my session to ensure everyone has a voice. Activities are optimized for every attendee no matter where they are. Handouts and tools can be downloaded and used immediately.

No matter how you join Presentation Summit, you will be engaged, have fun, and learn a lot.
