Bob van Duuren is publisher and author of books for information professionals. He published his first book in 1987 and became a friend of the Presentation Summit through the love he shared with Rick Altman for CorelDRAW. Nowadays, he focuses on writing books about AI, and he publishes books about this subject written by other authors as well. Although he is Dutch, he lives in the beautiful city of Barcelona, Spain.
In this conversation, Bob talks about his participation at the upcoming Presentation Summit 2025, being held virtually from October 19 to 22, 2025.

Geetesh: Bob, your AI to the Rescue! session explores how AI can enhance both presentations and the skills behind them. What are some of the key takeaways’ attendees will gain—especially those curious but cautious about bringing AI into their presentation workflow?
Bob: Key takeaways will be that you learn about the possibilities and impossibilities of using AI as a presentation professional. This means I will address the advantages of using AI (saving time, boosting creativity, generating ideas, and so on) as well as the pitfalls (ethical concerns, bias, hallucination, and copyright issues).
Geetesh: You’ve written several books on AI, including prompt engineering. How does your experience in those areas shape the practical tips and tools you’ll be sharing in your session?
Bob: Because I’ve studied the practical use of AI in detail, I will be able to give tips about ‘clever’ prompting, how to get the output you want, how to tweak your prompts in order to get better results in less time and so on. But I can also refer to ‘real-life’ examples I use in my daily workflow.
Geetesh: Beyond this session, can you tell us more about your broader work—your writing, speaking, or consulting—and how you help people use AI to work smarter, not harder?
Bob: My focus lies primarily on writing and publishing about AI. I still do training and presentations occasionally, but less often than before. When I do training, it is usually tailor-made for the audience. The use and benefits of AI differ across various audiences, and with the wide availability of (too) many tools, I notice that clients prefer to follow a training that zooms in on their specific needs. Just like this session for the presentation professional!
