Presenting is about a lot more than displaying slides on a screen. You have a message to deliver and the presentation is a means of getting that message across. You’ll need some presentation skills to engage your audience and persuade them to listen to what you’re saying, but the way you set up and use your PowerPoint slides can also help a lot.

One of the coolest things you can do on your system is to perform video capture of on-screen activity. This is a great way to create videos of presentations, browsing or any other desktop activity. Al Kaniss

Al KanissI’m concerned that the format of these presentations can actually draw the viewer’s attention away from their content. It’s not that presenters are trying to fool anyone, they’re just trying to present their project in the best possible light.

This is from a post by Al Kaniss on the DCMilitary site. He further adds:

An extreme illustration of how format can overshadow content is found in the book Catch Me If You Can. It’s a true story about a man named Frank Abagnale (Leonard DiCaprio played him in the movie version), who appeared so convincing in his fake airline pilot’s uniform that bank tellers and hotel clerks cashed his bad checks without hesitation. They paid too much attention to format (the looks of the airline pilot who was presenting the check), and not enough to the content (whether the check was any good or not).
