There is no doubt if you are using a rich, vibrant colored picture than olde-worlde black and white for your presentation, the colored pictures will attract more attention. However, the visibility in terms of contrast is far superior in a black and white photo — artists and photography purists have long hailed the black and white picture as a creative medium. You may want to extend this creative medium to your Photo Album presentations — fortunately, a click or two is all that is required to create an inspirational black and white Photo Album in PowerPoint 2013.

PowerPoint enables you to add captions for the pictures you add in a Photo Album presentation. Note that by default, the picture’s file name is used as a caption, so if the original file name was “Winter Morning.jpg”, the caption you see on your slide will be “Winter Morning”. Unfortunately it is not possible to get such nice, descriptive names for all pictures — these days most pictures are just subsequent numbers from a digital camera — so a name like IMG06712.jpg is more common! You really don’t want a caption like IMG06712 — fortunately, PowerPoint 2013 lets you change captions too! Before we learn about editing captions, let us first show how you can enable them.

After creating a Photo Album, you can reorder the sequence of the images, change their brightness and contrast levels, etc. However, you can also make changes to the layouts of the individual slides — such as number of pictures you want to be visible on a single slide. You can also opt to show slide titles (or not), or even show your pictures in full screen view where one individual picture fits the entire slide area. What choices you make will depend entirely upon you — in this tutorial, you will be aware of these different choices.
