Judd Albrecht has always been a creative person, from when he was young all the way up until now. Some ways he satisfies that need to be creative are animating, creating graphics, writing/playing music and playing with his kids. He went to school and graduated with a degree in 3D animation. Along with a background in animation, he developed many more skills that have made him a well-rounded digital artist. The thing he loves most about being an artist at PresenterMedia is being able to create content that will help people better express their message and help bring their presentations visually to life.
In this conversation, Judd talks about PresenterMedia’s new Calendar Builder tool.
Geetesh: Judd, tell us more about your new Calendar Builder and why you developed it.
Judd: We noticed how time-consuming building a calendar was while updating our PowerPoint template calendars every year. We came up with the idea to create an online tool to build a calendar graphic in just a few seconds to help others who might face similar challenges.
We offer both basic and more exciting calendar design options to provide users with a variety of choices. To make our calendars stand out, we also incorporated some visually appealing designs that add an extra pop to the calendars. These designs allow users to drag and swap photo placeholders from our photo library or with their uploaded photos to personalize the calendars.
Geetesh: How does one access and use this Calendar Builder feature within the PresenterMedia site?
Judd: PresenterMedia users can either access the calendar builder from our main website or by installing the PresenterMedia add-in for PowerPoint. Both ways follow the same steps for creating a calendar.
Our calendar builder is integrated into our online customizer application, which allows users to create personalized videos, animations, and clipart by editing text, changing photos, adding icons, or inserting a calendar. Users must load a custom-enabled graphic into our Customizer app to access the calendar builder. From there, they can access the calendar designs from the insert menu and load them into the customizer’s design layout to either download as a PNG image or apply what’s on the design layout area onto a customizable graphic.
Once the calendar is loaded into the design layout, users can change the dates by changing the month and year in the format calendar options. Then click the Build Calendar button, and all the dates for that specific month and year are updated instantly.
Our PowerPoint add-in is a great tool to accompany our Calendar Builder. You can perform all the tasks mentioned above directly within PowerPoint and effortlessly add the calendar to a slide with a single click. I’ve provided a video for a brief demonstration of how it works.
Geetesh: Can you explain the process of downloading the calendar?
Judd: Sure, there are two ways to download the calendar. The first way is after the user inserts a calendar into the design layout area, right-clicking on the calendar and selecting Download Selected Item” from the menu.
The second way is by applying the calendar to a customizable graphic using our online customizer app and then downloading the graphic with the calendar applied as part of it.
For more detailed information, we provide instructions for building a calendar in this blog post.
Geetesh: Judd, can you share usage scenarios for these new calendars? Where are they best used?
Judd: Although there are many ways to utilize a calendar, here are a few scenarios that come to mind.
- A presenter may find it helpful to add a calendar to a presentation slide to emphasize significant milestones and deadlines for the current or upcoming months.
- Another way would be to include a calendar in a social media post to highlight an important upcoming event.
- One could add the calendar to an email to visually represent a particular date or deadline to the recipient.
- The last way is utilizing a calendar design in marketing materials to illustrate a sale’s start or end effectively.
I think one of the best places to use a calendar design would be within a PowerPoint slide or any other presentation software, but that’s my opinion. Whichever way there used; calendar designs are an exceptional tool to help people remember important dates by connecting a visual element to the date.
