Navigating career transition during the mid-career stage can be challenging for many individuals for various reasons.

Reflecting on my journey, I found this phase difficult because it overlapped with caregiving responsibilities for both children and elderly parents. Balancing these dual commitments left me with little time to prioritise my career development fully.

Terry Irwin is a retired consultant surgeon based in the UK. He has been an honorary lecturer at Queens University, Belfast for over 20 years. He has been an external examiner for medical schools both in the UK and overseas. He has held a variety of lead roles for the Royal College of Surgeons of England and has been a leader in postgraduate surgical education in Northern Ireland for most of his career. He has published over 50 peer reviewed scientific articles. He has been teaching presentation skills both locally and in a number of countries for 20 years.

Jon Peltier
Jon Peltier is a master of leveraging the power of Excel to produce and simplify complex solutions in engineering, finance, and marketing. Jon holds a Doctor of Science degree from MIT in Metallurgy; his background includes Manufacturing, Statistics, Total Quality, and Six Sigma; and he knows more about Excel charts than practically anyone.

Jon has been a full-time Excel developer since 2004; his services include custom Excel solutions and a popular Excel add-in which provides charting capabilities which are not built into Excel. Jon has a popular blog with hundreds of tutorials on Excel charts and VBA automation, he offers training in advanced Excel charting and programming, and he has received Microsoft’s Most Valuable Professional award every year since 2001.
