Kurt Dupont is a solution provider who would go out of his way just to ensure he brings out the best when it comes to issues that have to deal with data-driven presentations, data visualization, and digital signage software.
He started by working at airports worldwide to set up airport databases and flight information screens. This evolved to become the basis for PresentationPoint.
In this conversation, Kurt discusses 25 years of PresentationPoint.
Geetesh: In a recent post, you mentioned that PresentationPoint is celebrating 25 years. However, this journey must have started earlier. Can you tell us how you got started?
Kurt: I was drawn to the power of computing very early, and I wanted to learn programming to get computers to solve problems for me.
I was a programmer working at Brussels Airport and was tasked with building a central database for common flight information so that the information could be shown in real-time on television screens geared towards passengers as well as staff.
To make the data display appear aesthetic, I decided to make the database work with PowerPoint rather than trying to build a separate graphic display function. That idea inspired me to start my own company, so that this idea was available as a solution not only for aviation, but for every business and organization on the planet. This choice proved to be a key part of my success because so many companies rely on PowerPoint for presentations.
So, we started with a single niche and now we have clients from some of the largest corporations in the world across a wide range of industries. And our products are no longer limited to only real-time data. With our software you never have to update a presentation anymore with your latest figures.
It’s been an amazing journey since then, and we’re excited to celebrate our 25th anniversary this year!
Geetesh: How do you enjoy your work, and make each day count? Is there a secret that you can share?
Kurt: I love to solve problems. Our world is moving fast, and clear communication and precise, up-to-date data have become paramount to organizations’ success. Digital signage growth is explosive.
By providing our software suite of tools for unified reporting, digital signage, digital dashboards, and internal communications, we have the privilege of solving problems for organizations like NASA, SpaceX, NATO, Sony, IKEA, Amazon, and many others.
One of the favorite things about my work is seeing how creative our clients are with their use of our software to solve their problems. I love it when our clients share photos and stories with us, and our case studies area provides a wealth of inspiration and is one of the main reasons new clients choose us to work with.
