Rick Altman has been hired by hundreds of companies, listened to by tens of thousands of professionals, and read by millions of people, all of whom seek better results with their presentation content and delivery. He covers the whole of the industry, from message crafting, through presentation design, slide creation, software technique, and delivery. He is the host of the Presentation Summit, now in its 17th season as the most prominent learning event for the presentation community.
In this conversation, Rick talks about the Presentation Summit-Powtoon Contest.
Geetesh: You just announced that one winner of the Presentation Summit-Powtoon contest will be covered for attendance and hotel-stay costs for the upcoming Presentation Summit this October in San Antonio. Tell us more–more about the contest, and more about the prizes.
Rick: This contest has been years in the making; we have wanted to get Powtoon to get involved in the Summit for some time now. Powtoon has a great platform for helping people produce and share videos, and now that PowerPoint is so much more capable with video integration and creation, as compared to a few versions ago, we are hoping that folks will really go to town with this. Our friends at Microsoft have gotten in the act, too, putting up a year of Office 365 to the winner and offering to act as a judge. With Powtoon giving a year of service to the winner, we’re talking well over $3,000 in loot.
Geetesh: What are you looking for in the winning video? And also, tell us about Powtoon, the co-sponsors of this contest.
Rick: We have three judges but no specific criteria, and if you ask me what I’m looking for in a winner, I’m not sure if I have a good answer! But I can tell you this for sure: I’ll know it when I see it.
In 2012, four friends met in a cafe to solve a problem: How can you communicate a message without putting your audience to sleep? They knew that the answer was a great animation video, but working with an animation studio can take weeks and cost thousands. These four friends sought to create a tool to help bring impact to basic messaging, and thus, Powtoon was born.
Today, it is the most user-friendly and most intuitive animation software available to communicators and content creators. Whether you’re teaching a class, sending a note to a friend, or pitching a product to potential investors, now you can create engaging and animated videos with a professional look and feel.
